Active Areas

With our Smart Perimeter Protection, you can draw custom sized virtual fences directly in the video stream around areas you want to protect. Combined with object detection, you can make sure that an action is triggered only when an object of interest is detected in the predefined area.

Once you have added your active areas, you can add them to your rules in the RULES page (Rules for Detection).

Adding Active Areas

To add an active area to a camera, click on the purple CREATE button on the right side of the specific video source under ACTIVE AREAS. A window will open up called LIST OF ACTIVE AREAS, click on CREATE and a window will open.

Click on CREATE to make a new virtual area for a video source
  • For each single video source, you can add multiple active areas.

  • Active areas combined with object detection help you minimize the amount of false positive alarms, triggering notifications only when an object of interest is recognized in a specific area, instead of the whole camera's point of view

Each Polygon consists of at least 3 points connected together forming an area in the video stream. Once a specified object enters the area, leaves it or stays in it longer than a set duration allows (can be configured in the Rules page), an action/event will be triggered.

To start, enter the name of the new area and click on the polygon icon:

Now you can draw a polygon in the video stream. Once you are finished, click on the save button and exit the CREATE ACTIVE AREA window.

Once you are finished, click on SAVE and exit the window.

Whats next ?

Now that we have created active areas for the video stream, its time to create some output action that will be triggered when an object of interest gets detected based on a created rule (To learn how to create a new rule -> Rules for Detection). To create new output action go to -> Output Actions.
